Equipment

  • 1 large skillet or frying pan
  • 1 cutting board
  • 1 spatula or wooden spoon
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 pound smoked sausage or kielbasa, sliced
  • 4 medium potatoes, diced About 2 pounds or 900g.
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt Adjust to taste.
  • ½ cup grated cheese Optional, for topping.

Instructions

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for another 3-4 minutes until the onion is soft and translucent.
  • Introduce the diced potatoes to the skillet, followed by the paprika, black pepper, and salt. Stir well to combine and cover the skillet.
  • Cook the potatoes for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are tender and cooked through. If needed, add a splash of water to help steam the potatoes.
  • Once the potatoes are near done, add the broccoli florets to the skillet. Cover and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the broccoli is vibrant green and tender.
  • If desired, sprinkle the grated cheese over the skillet, covering it loosely. Allow it to melt for a couple of minutes before serving.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning, if necessary, before serving.
