Equipment

  • 1 frying pan or skillet
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 cutting board
  • 1 plate

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread white, whole wheat, or sourdough.
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese about 4 oz.
  • 4 slices cooked bacon
  • ½ cup fresh blackberries
  • salt and pepper to taste (optional).

Instructions

  • Cook the bacon in a frying pan over medium heat until crispy. Remove it from the pan and let it drain on paper towels.
  • In the same pan, lower the heat to medium-low and add 1 tablespoon of butter.
  • Layer one slice of bread in the pan and sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese evenly over it.
  • Add two slices of bacon on top of the cheese, followed by half of the blackberries. If desired, season with a sprinkle of salt and pepper.
  • Top with another slice of bread. Press down gently to compact the sandwich.
  • Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bread is golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula.
  • Add the remaining butter to the pan along the edges of the sandwich and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the second side is golden brown and the cheese has melted.
  • Once done, remove the sandwich from the pan and let it cool for a minute. Cut it in half and serve immediately.

Notes

For an extra touch, you can drizzle some honey or add a spread of cream cheese on the inside of the bread before assembling the sandwich.
Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese, such as brie or gouda, for varied flavors.
Serve the grilled cheese with a side of soup or salad for a complete meal.
