- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 1 package refrigerated crescent roll dough 8 oz package.
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 large egg for egg wash.
- to taste salt
- to taste pepper
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper if desired.
In a medium frying pan over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spoon. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
Unroll the crescent roll dough on a clean surface. Press the seams together if there are any gaps to create a single sheet.
Cut the dough into eight equal triangles using a knife or pizza cutter.
Spoon a small amount of cooked sausage onto the wide end of each triangle. Top with a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese.
Roll each triangle up starting from the wide end, rolling towards the pointed end. Place each rolled crescent on the prepared baking sheet.
In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush the mixture over the tops of the crescent rolls for a golden finish.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
You can customize the filling by adding other ingredients like scrambled eggs, cooked bacon, or different types of cheese. Serve warm for the best taste, and consider pairing with a side of fresh fruit or a light salad for a complete breakfast.
