Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 electric mixer or whisk
  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 parchment paper
  • 1 cookie scoop or tablespoon
  • 1 cooling rack

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Mix well using an electric mixer or whisk until smooth.
  • Add in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips until they are evenly distributed throughout the cookie dough.
  • Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers look slightly soft.
  • Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a cooling rack to cool completely.
  • For an extra boost of flavor, consider adding chopped nuts or a sprinkle of sea salt on top of the cookies before baking.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to five days.
  • These cookies can also be served warm with a scoop of ice cream for an indulgent dessert.
