1 large saucepan
1 wooden spoon or spatula
1 9x13-inch baking dish
1 measuring cups and spoons
1 parchment paper (optional)
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 package mini marshmallows (10 oz)
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- ½ cup pastel-colored candy-coated chocolate eggs (or other Easter-themed candies)
- ¼ cup pastel sprinkles
Prepare the Baking Dish: Lightly grease the 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or line it with parchment paper for easy removal later.
Melt the Butter: In a large saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter.
Add the Marshmallows: Once the butter is melted, add the mini marshmallows to the saucepan. Stir continuously until they are completely melted and smooth.
Combine with Rice Krispies: Remove the saucepan from heat. Add the Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture, stirring until all the cereal is evenly coated.
Add Candies and Sprinkles: Gently fold in the pastel-colored candy-coated chocolate eggs and half of the pastel sprinkles until evenly distributed.
Press into the Dish: Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Using a buttered spatula or your hands (lightly greased), press the mixture firmly into an even layer.
Decorate: Sprinkle the remaining pastel sprinkles on top of the pressed treats for decoration.
Cool: Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes or until set.
Cut and Serve: Once cooled and firm, cut the Rice Krispies treats into squares or rectangles. Serve and enjoy!
For added fun, you can shape the treats into Easter-themed shapes using cookie cutters. Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Feel free to customize the decoration with different candies and colors to match your Easter theme.
