- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons red chili flakes Adjust based on your heat preference.

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 1 cup of sugar, ½ cup of rice vinegar, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 3 tablespoons of red chili flakes, and 1 tablespoon of minced garlic. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
In a small bowl, mix 1 teaspoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to form a slurry. Add this mixture to the sauce while stirring continuously.
Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
Remove from heat and let the sauce cool to room temperature. It will thicken more as it cools.
Transfer the Sweet Chili Sauce to a clean jar or bottle and store it in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
