Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 electric mixer or whisk
  • 1 measuring cups
  • 1 measuring spoons
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 airtight container for storing leftovers

Ingredients

  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk to reach desired consistency

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and butter. Use an electric mixer or whisk to blend them together until smooth and creamy.
  • Gradually add in the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed to prevent a cloud of sugar from forming.
  • Once incorporated, add the vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
  • Add milk, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired icing consistency. If you prefer a thicker icing, use less milk; for a thinner drizzle, use more.
  • Once the icing is smooth and creamy, it's ready to use! Spread it on warm cinnamon rolls or drizzle it over cooled ones.
  • If desired, add a pinch of cinnamon or maple syrup to enhance the flavor.

Notes

This icing is best used fresh, but it can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
If you want a richer flavor, you can add a pinch of cinnamon or maple syrup to the icing for variety.
For a vegan version, replace the cream cheese and butter with plant-based alternatives.
